Cabo Verde's government lists the countries whose citizens are exempt from a visa, among them the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, China and France for 30 days and Senegal and Nigeria for 90 days. Cabo Verde's law on foreigners, as republished in 2023, says that to enter the national territory foreigners must hold a valid visa suited to the purpose of the journey, unless exempt, that visa applications are made through a platform on the internet, and that visas may be granted abroad by embassies and consular posts and in the national territory by the DEF. Its EASE portal says that from 1 January 2026 nationals of the countries on its list must obtain a visa before arrival, contacting the nearest Cabo Verde embassy; the fee schedule sets CVE 2,500 for a tourist visa requested on the online pre-registration platform and CVE 5,000 for a tourist visa granted on arrival at a border post. The Embassy of Cabo Verde in Washington says all foreign citizens must pre-register on EASE 5 days before departure to pay the airport security tax.
- Passport validity
- Cabo Verde's foreigners law (Lei n.º 66/VIII/2014, Article 7(3)) says travel documents must be valid for longer than the authorised stay, except on the re-entry of a foreigner legally resident in Cabo Verde. The Embassy of Cabo Verde in Washington asks visa applicants for a passport valid for at least six months beyond the period of stay, and the UK government tells British nationals their passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date they arrive.
- Return or onward ticket
- Cabo Verde's foreigners law requires tourist-visa applicants to hold a transport ticket that lets them enter and leave Cabo Verde.
- Vaccinations
- WHO's country list says Cabo Verde requires proof of yellow fever vaccination from travellers aged 1 year or over arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
