Tanzania Immigration's visa guidelines say a visa can be obtained online through its official website, which they recommend, or on arrival at an official entry point; the ordinary visa costs 50 USD, and US passport holders must apply for the multiple visa, which costs 100 USD. They say nationals of EAC member states, of SADC member countries except Comoro and of Commonwealth countries except the United Kingdom, Canada, Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Australia and New Zealand are not required to apply for a visa. The UK Foreign Office says all visitors to mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, except residents, must have mandatory Tanzanian Government-provided inbound travel insurance, even if they already have a personal policy in place.
- Passport validity
- Tanzania's visa guidelines say visa applicants must ensure that their passports have a validity of at least six months and at least one unused visa page before submitting their application.
- Blank passport pages
- At least 1 blank passport page.
- Travel insurance
- The UK Foreign Office says all visitors to mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, except residents, must have mandatory Tanzanian Government-provided inbound travel insurance, even if they already have a personal policy in place, valid for the duration of the stay (up to 92 days). It can be bought online or at ports of entry on arrival, only for the first port of entry: from the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) if they arrive in mainland Tanzania first, or from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) if they intend to arrive in Zanzibar first. Travellers who bought ZIC insurance before 1 October may use it when the mainland is their first port of entry. Visitors without the required insurance may be refused entry.
- Return or onward ticket
- Tanzania's visa guidelines say visitors must show their return ticket upon arrival at the entry point.
