Yellow fever certificate rule
- Prima
- A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if you arrive from, or transited more than 12 hours through, a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
- Dopo
- Travellers aged 1 to 59 must upload a yellow fever vaccination certificate only if they are travelling from a country or region where the disease is endemic; a transit of less than 12 hours through an airport in such a region does not count. Travellers aged 60 and over need not submit one.

Senegal
FAQ: is Senegal safe
- Prima
- Broadly yes — it's among West Africa's most stable countries and the tourist circuit (Dakar, Saly, Saint-Louis, Sine-Saloum) is well traveled. The main annoyances are petty theft and scams in Dakar; parts of the Casamance borderlands call for extra care.
- Dopo
- The FCDO does not advise against travel to any part of Senegal, but robbery, burglary and assault — sometimes armed — have become more common in Dakar, including hold-ups at hotels used by foreigners, and pickpocketing and bag-snatching are rising. Take care after dark and pre-arrange airport transfers.

FAQ: yellow fever
- Prima
- A certificate is mandatory only if you arrive from a country with yellow fever risk, but that covers most of Senegal's neighbors, and the vaccine is recommended for all visitors, so carry your yellow card.
- Dopo
- A certificate is required only if you arrive from a country listed as a yellow fever transmission risk — including if you only transited through an airport there — and babies aged 9 months and under are exempt. Because Senegal itself has yellow fever risk, some other countries may ask for the certificate on your onward trip.

Safety summary
- Prima
- Senegal is one of West Africa's most stable democracies and most visits are trouble-free. Watch for pickpocketing and bag-snatching on Dakar's corniche and in markets, and take advice before traveling to parts of the Casamance near the Gambia and Guinea-Bissau borders, where residual caution applies off the main routes.
- Dopo
- Robbery, burglary and assault have become more common in Dakar, sometimes with weapons — hotels used by foreigners have been robbed at gunpoint — and pickpocketing and bag-snatching are increasing. Take care after nightfall, avoid walking alone, and pre-arrange your airport transfer, as bogus taxi drivers target arrivals. The FCDO does not advise against travel to any part of Senegal.
