Dubai’s tourism department says citizens of more than 80 countries are able to get a visa on arrival in Dubai; it describes a multiple-entry visa upon arrival valid for 6 months from the date of entry for a stay of 90 days total, and a visa on arrival valid for 30 days from the date of entry. The EU–UAE short-stay visa waiver agreement provides for visa-free travel for citizens of the Union for a maximum period of 90 days in any 180-day period. The UAE government portal says a tourist visa is for those who are not eligible for visa on arrival or visa-free entry, and that you can apply for one through airlines, hotels and travel agents.

Passport validity

Dubai's tourism department lists a confirmed airline booking among the documents for a tourist visa, and the federal ICP lists a return travel ticket among its visa conditions. The UAE Embassy in Washington tells US citizens, who get a visa on arrival, that they must have a round-trip airline ticket or a confirmed ticket to another destination.

Vaccinations

WHO lists the United Arab Emirates as requiring proof of vaccination against yellow fever for travellers aged 9 months or over arriving from countries determined by WHO to be at risk for yellow fever transmission, including travellers having transited more than 12 hours through the airport of such a country.
