Return or onward ticket
Under Nauru's Immigration Regulations 2014, a visitor's visa may only be granted to a person who holds a valid ticket for travel from Nauru to another country and any documents necessary for entering the country of destination (regulation 12(1)(a)), so visa applicants are required to hold one. The Government of Canada's travel advice says customs officials may ask to see a return or onward ticket.

Proof of funds
Under Nauru's Immigration Act, a person without sufficient lawful means of support for themselves and their dependants can be declared a prohibited immigrant, and the Immigration Regulations 2014 require a visitor's visa applicant to show means of support if asked (regulation 12(1)(c)). Canada's travel advice says customs officials may ask for proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay.
